Another short story.
When I was a kid growing up, in elementary school your report card was sent home twice a year.
A parent had to sign the report card, and my father Kurt Alan had a scribble at the end of his name, it stood for his last name.
Early one year when I returned the card with my father’s signature my teacher read out loud to me, and asked…who is k.a.scribble scrabble?
I was not sure, so when I went home that day, I mentioned the teachers remark and my father laughed.
We laughed together when he took a pen and signed a blank paper again and again…
Penmanship and cursive writing was important to that teacher and when I had trouble with my lower case a’s that year, she mentioned my father and funny thing was he had been the one to show me how to put a little tail on the “a”…maybe mine was a little longer.
